Exceptional Gain and Sound Quality

The H-Labs PRE169 offers an impressive gain range exceeding 67dB, ensuring excellent performance with low-level sources and ribbon microphones. Its input stage faithfully replicates the iconic Studer 169 mixing console design, delivering a transparent sound with a substantial gain. A large Carnhill VT24499 transformer in the output section, identical to those found in Neve 51-series consoles, adds a rich, warm character to the sound.

The PRE169’s design includes a musical 12dB/octave high-pass filter, adjustable from 20 to 315Hz, to eliminate unwanted low-end rumble. The unit also features a straightforward DI input that benefits from the transformer’s distinctive sonic qualities.
