What is Room Correction and Speaker Optimisation?

Room acoustics impact the sound from your speakers, affecting how you manipulate your mix. While traditional acoustic treatments help control this, some artefacts cannot be corrected solely by acoustics. Trinnov Audio's stereo and surround optimisers use the latest DSP real-time processing to improve room accuracy through your speaker system. The Trinnov Optimizer® applies advanced research in loudspeaker/room acoustics to create a new generation of processors, setting a benchmark for precise sound reproduction and enhancing mix translation.

Multichannel Loudspeaker Processor

The Trinnov Audio MC Pro 16 adapts to various needs, offering:

  • Up to 16 Analogue & 16 AES channels
  • MADI, AES67, and DANTE models for up to 64 I/O
  • Support for all formats, from stereo to 64 channels
  • Biamp, triamp, and quadriamp operation
  • 2U Rackmount design

The Optimizer® is a comprehensive loudspeaker processor that exceeds current audio reproduction standards. It combines automatic algorithms with flexible fine-tuning tools to help sound system designers achieve optimal results quickly and efficiently.

Acoustic Analysis

Install the Optimizer® in the monitoring signal path just before the amplifier. Using a unique 3D microphone, it generates sound impulses and processes them. After measurements, the Optimizer® computes automatic compensation within seconds, regardless of system complexity.

Unlike outdated real-time analysis and 1/3rd octave correction methods, the Optimizer® employs modern techniques to create complex digital filters, offering the best loudspeaker/room compensation. It analyses and addresses all aspects of the reproduction system within its acoustic environment, identifying, cross-analysing, and compensating for issues with the most efficient and best-sounding solutions.

Correction of Early Reflections (Direct Field)

The Optimizer® analyses time-frequency domain measurements to identify early reflections based on their amplitude, frequency, direction, and arrival time, ensuring each loudspeaker's response remains free from early reflections.

Correction of Room Energy

The Optimizer® then analyses the system's steady-state frequency domain response. It identifies and compensates for resonance modes up to 300Hz with individual filters and applies smoothing filters to address room reverberation colouration in the mid and high ranges.

Trinnov Optimizer®: What’s New in V3.0

  • Multi-Point Measurements: Measure multiple points in your room using one or more microphones, and algorithms consider each point according to specified weights.
  • New Graphs: Compare multiple loudspeakers or measurement points on the same graphs and analyse impulse responses, group delay, and the filters generated by the Optimizer®.
  • Modular Architecture: Select the features you need. The Optimizer® Runtime lets you use the Optimizer® as a "black box", while the Optimizer® Toolbox includes all measurement and analysis functionalities for loudspeaker calibration.
