The Avantone Pro Gauss 7 is a nearfield active studio reference monitor mixing old-school snap of vintage nearfield speakers with the bandwidth and frequency response of modern designs.
The Avantone Pro Gauss 7 includes the GAU-AMT tweeter based on designs by the Gauss Speaker Company and provides ultra-smooth response and superior stereo-field as well as transparent and accurate reproduction and detailed transient response. The result is a wide sweet spot and precise imaging and detailed midrange.
High-fidelity AMT Driver
The GAU-AMT tweeter uses a 65mm Polyethylene Terephthalate (PET) film folded membrane, favoured for its lowest resonant-frequency film and low crossover point and extended high-frequency response (22kHz). The GAU-AMT coil aluminium-etched PET film is mounted in its own enclosure to protect from backwave pressure from the woofer.
Old School Woofer with Modern Bandwidth
The Gauss 7 woofer was engineered from the ground up and takes inspiration from the AV10-MLF found on the CLA-10, and uses the same blend of wood pulp and glass fibre. The design provides a hard snap and fast transient response akin to the CLA-10 but with extended low-frequency response.
The woofer uses a motor structure made of low-carbon 1008 steel to create the highest magnetic flux density between the pole piece and top plate. It is combined with a Japanese uni-directional styrene-butadiene rubber (SBR) to optimise the power and excursion of the woofer.
A rear-firing bass port extends the low frequency in a controlled manner, providing an punchy low-end while maintaining a tight response.
Acoustic Tuning Controls
The Avantone Gauss 7 integrates easily in any studio thanks to the choice between balanced XLR and 1/4“ TRS inputs. For room integration, a three-position acoustic placement switch lets you optimise the frequency response of your speakers to boundary spaces of the room. An additional High switch also helps tweah additional room issues while a gain control on each speaker allows for proper system calibration.
