The Burl B26 Orca is a 2U rack-mounted analogue Class A control-room monitor routing station.
A simple enough concept, the Burl B26 Orca lets you select your main inputs and pair them with your main outputs to see what they sound like. You choose whichever of the six inputs you like from the Burl B26 front panel selection and route them through to whichever monitor path you prefer to hear.
Burl has made a point of keeping their signal paths uncluttered to give you the most transparent sound, especially crucial on a device like the B26 Orca, where you don't want the monitor signal degraded for any reason. Capacitor-free Class A circuitry, discrete components and commitment-to-quality are all standard practice from Burl.
A clear layout on the Burl B26 Orca lets you select the Studio monitors or the Control Room - with relative volumes controlled from the chunky, stepped volume controls. Connecting a microphone to the back panel of the Burl Orca allows you to select Talkback to communicate with the musicians in the studio - a useful feature, but often overlooked by other companies. Another nice touch is provision for both Control Room and Studio Headphones straight from the Burl Orca front panel - now you can easily check what the musicians are actually hearing when you route mixes through to them. You can also sum into mono for that last all-important phase check.
