The Dynaudio LYD-48 is a three-way active studio monitor designed to provide unrivalled accuracy at any volume with a state-of-the-art Class D amplifier a DSP and can be used as nearfield or midfield monitors.

The Dynaudio LYD-48 features Dynaudio’s proprietary MSP midrange and woofers as well as a new soft-dome tweeter which help deliver stunning precision. Handcrafted drivers are employed throughout with the tweeter using an aluminium voice coil to power the soft-dome silk tweeter which provides natural and uncoloured high frequencies. Low and Mid use  8” and 4” drivers respectively and use Magnesium Solicate Polymer which provides the ideal balance between stiffness, weight and dampening. Aluminium is also used in these drivers to provide better thermal behaviour and reducing unwanted distortion. It also delivers better off-axis response and super-fast transient response.

Each driver is powered by a state-of-the-art Class-D amplifier with the high and mid drivers powered by a 50W amp and the woofer using a 80W amplifier. Furthermore the digital amplifiers uses a 24-bit/96kHz signal path and boasts Anlaog Devices crossovers built-in. The DSP also controls Bass extension sound balance and position tuning modes. A Selectable standby mode is also provided allowing users to save energy when the speakers are not in use and to start immediately when the monitor receives incoming signal.

The Bass extension provided by the DSP allows you to choose between loudness and low-end fidelity without sacrificing the linearity of the speakers. Another function controlled by DSP is the Position control which activates one of two tunings which provides a choice between free standing mode or closer to the wall (within 50cm of a wall), helping provide a more balanced response in your situation. Finally the Sound Balance control activates a tilt EQ which provides speaker voicing without added phase shift which can affect the imaging. It works by lifting one side of the spectrum and lowering by an equal amount the other side. In Bright mode a 1.5dB cut is applied at 20Hz while a 1.5dB boost is applied at 20 kHz. In Dark mode the opposite happens.
