Technology and Design
Designed primarily for soffit-installed mains applications, the Arcturus leverages the coaxial and axisymmetric technology from the Quasar model. It uniquely integrates twin-ring radial neodymium SEAS subwoofers, delivering some of the lowest distortion and most linear output ever measured in Ex Machina's products. These subwoofers, featuring a split-gap twin-ring radial neodymium motor, ensure exceptional symmetry and motor strength, even at extreme excursions.
Subwoofers
The ultra-low distortion and exceptionally linear design of the SEAS Extreme Series subwoofers, equipped with a split-gap twin-ring radial neodymium motor, provide outstanding performance. These 26cm subwoofers represent the pinnacle of Ex Machina's engineering achievements.
Midrange/Tweeter
The coaxial midrange/tweeter employs Composite Sound Metamodal TeXtreme diaphragms, ultralight and ultra-stiff carbon fabrics with optimised fibre geometries that actively control and suppress resonances. The midrange waveguide shape, underhung surround, and optimised point source acoustic centre alignment ensure superb off-axis response and minimal distortion.
Electronics
The Arcturus integrates the same electronics as the Quasar model, with an added 2RU remote AMP/DSP pack requiring top and bottom venting. Flagship AKM Velvet Sound AK4493/AK5572-based conversion provides pristine sound, while Hypex Ncore amplifiers deliver efficient power. The 5th gen SHARC+ DSP hardware processes complex calculations efficiently.
Cabinets
The sealed Valchromat cabinets are stiff, dense, and well-damped, eliminating the chuffing and group delay associated with ported designs. The ultra-rigid 38mm laminated front baffle handles the output of the twin 26cm subwoofers, and radiused insets for the subwoofers eliminate potential lip shadow from the tall boy surrounds.
