The Focal Solo 6 ST6 is a professional two-way nearfield active studio monitor offering unparalleled transparency, definition as well as dynamics and soundstage precision.
The Focal Solo 6 ST6 offers the perfect solution for music producers, sound engineers, broadcast and post-production combining powerful amplification and detailed rendition of the sound. Placed between 1 and 3 metres away these nearfield monitors can be used in locations where space is an issue such as mobile production and studio vehicles, project or home studios, offering high-quality reference monitoring.
Composite W Sandwich Cone and Inverted Tweeter
Focal’s recording monitor features a 6.5” woofer “W” cone sandwich composite driver capable of delivering a detailed low end (as low as 40 Hz) and a surprisingly neutral midrange. Designed in France by Focal, this composite exhibits the ideal balance between lightness and rigidity providing precise control of the cone’s damping quality. The result is a perfectly optimised frequency response, low distortion rate and superior phase response.
A 1” Beryllium inverted dome tweeter is employed for HF providing an incredibly detailed and ruler flat response all the way up to 40kHz. The Focal SOLO 6 is also extremely powerful for its size with a dual Class AB amplification system delivering 150W for the LF speaker and a 100W for HF speaker. At the back features controls including an input level switch, as well as LF and HF contour potentiometers, which let you adjust the sound according to the acoustic of your studio.
Focus Mode
Inspired by Focal’s SM9 and Twin 11, the Solo 6 now features its own implementation of the Focus Mode, in essence, providing two speakers in one. The Focus Mode bypasses the tweeter, transforming the 2-way speaker into a one-way full-range speaker. The removal of the crossover, offers another useful perspective at the cost of reduced dynamics, akin to smaller speaker systems.
The Focus Mode can be engaged by simply pressing a pedal (sold separately) that connects to the speaker.
A New Design
The new cabinet features thick and robust material offering greater rigidity and superior damping, resulting in less vibration and distortion resulting in a tighter, more focused overall sound.
Furthermore, Focal have added very useful features such as a variable highpass crossover and a 160Hz parametric filter to reduce reflections from nearby walls or consoles.
For surround and Atmos configurations, the Solo 6 ST6 range includes fixture points for wall and ceiling mounting with standard brackets.
