The Microtech Gefell M 221 is a high-fidelity small diaphragm condenser microphone which combines a certificated measurement capsule and preamplifier with 48V phantom power for superior phase response and transmission properties.
The Microtech Gefell M 221 uses an unusually small capsule measuring 12.5mm in diameter with a two-micron Nickel diaphragm for increase transient response. The M 221 offers a ruler-flat frequency response from 5Hz all the way up to 15kHz with a slight resonant peak of less than 1dB appears. Designed for “free-field” applications the M 221 offers its truly flat response to close on-axis source with a flattering roll-off for off-axis sources. The Microtech Gefell M221 comes with two spherical acoustic equalisers, the KA 3 and KA 4 which provide +3dB between 4kHz and 12kHz or 1kHz-12kHz respectively.
The Polar response is also exceptional with a fully omni polar pattern all the way up to 4kHz and a gradually narrower response further up the frequency response due to the shadowing effect of the body.
Sensitivity is also impressively high with 50mV/Pa offering a truly silent performance compared to other microphones and the M 221 can handle SPL of 136dB with 0.5% THD.
