The Groove Synthesis 3rd Wave is a powerhouse wavetable synth featuring 24-voice polyphony and 4-part multi-timbral capability. It essentially offers four independent synthesisers at your fingertips.
Powerful Synthesis Capabilities
Each of its three oscillators per voice can be:
- A classic PPG-era wavetable
- A high-resolution complex wavetable
- An analogue-modelled waveform
With the built-in Wavemaker, you can create up to 64 custom wavetables. The sample-to-wavetable feature allows you to connect an audio source and generate a wavetable at the touch of a button.
Classic Legacy, Modern Sound
Rooted in classic digital wavetable synths, the 3rd Wave modernises this concept with expanded wavetables and warm, organic-sounding analogue filters. It includes a punchy Dave Rossum-designed 2140 analogue low-pass filter with variable saturation and a second SEM-style state-variable filter (low-pass, high-pass, notch, and band-pass) for advanced tone-sculpting. Running both filters in series creates harmonically complex textures.
4-Part Multi-Timbral
With 24 voices, the 3rd Wave supports the most note-intensive performances. Its polyphony shines with the ability to layer up to four independent parts or split zones, each with a unique sound, sequence, and dual effect. Each stereo part has independent panning, volume, and a dedicated physical output.
Modulation Matrix
The 3rd Wave’s modulation matrix offers 16 assignable slots, 12 fixed-source slots, 27 sources, and 114 destinations, providing the flexibility of a modular system. This power extends to each of the four independent layers of sound, each with its modulation matrix.
Sequence Notes, Songs, and Parameters
The pattern-based sequencer is ideal for composers and sound designers. It allows you to enter notes and chords in real time with or without quantisation for maximum groove and seamlessly arrange up to 24 patterns of up to 32 measures into songs.
