What we think

This creative sounding analogue poly synth has a gentle nod of appreciation towards the depth and characteristics of an early Prophet and Juno timbre - but with a true, modern, flexible workflow.

The way the screen updates and follows your touches allows you to instantly know where your programming journey is up to, allowing you to quickly delve into the rich, warm musical oscillators and filter and finishing it up adding the chorus and quirky delay as extra elements of processing. Truly brilliant sounding.

The GS Music e7 is a four-part multitimbral, 7-voice polyphonic analogue synthesiser with a classic subtractive design, a smooth 24dB/oct ladder filter and built-in chorus and delay.

The GS Music e7 is handmade in Argentina and has two multi-wave analogue oscillators (VCOs), sub-oscillators, and hard sync. Each oscillator offers the following options: triangle, saw-tri, sawtooth, and pulse. The oscillators can be autotuned, and the pulse waveform can be mixed in. A white noise generator in the mixing section provides total signal control, including the ability to open the "gate" for external signals.

The VCF section has a smooth 24db/oct ladder lowpass filter with resonance control and many modulation choices (envelope, LFO, mod-wheel/aftertouch).

The modulation engine is digitally implemented, including two ADSR envelopes and three multi-wave LFOs. The first two LFOs offer a selection of five waveforms, while the third offers a selection of four that can be engaged through the mod wheel and/or aftertouch. The LFOs support monophonic and polyphonic operation, keyboard tracking and clock sync.

Modulation adheres to traditional design principles (think Prophet 5) and is readily allocated to designated functions, allowing users to swiftly sculpt the sound without getting lost in a mod matrix or menu diving. In addition to envelopes and LFOs, velocity, aftertouch, mod wheel, and MPE are supported. As a result, you may change the pitch and cutoff independently for each voice.

The voices are panning in stereo from left to right. However, you can quickly alter this using the stereo spread and place them in the middle or left/right. There's also a cool stereo motion feature that lets you modulate the stereo spread with an LFO.

Users can save up to 640 presets and 128 multi-timbral presets on the e7 synthesiser to quickly recall their favourite patch. When adjusting the sound, a tiny OLED panel provides useful feedback.

Stereo output, MIDI IN/OUT/THRU over 5-pin DIN connections, USB-MIDI, and CV inputs for pitch, cutoff, and gate allow control of your e7 via your modular or analogue keyboard. It also has an external input, allowing you to treat external sources with the VCF.
