Modern dual-channel valve compressor inspired by classic tube compressors of the past with British and American modes

The Highland Dynamics BG1 is a modern dual-channel compressor inspired by classic tube compressors of the past.

The Highland Dynamics BG1 takes its inspiration from the venerable Altec 436 but adds a wide range of modification of tone and controls as well as improvements in noise levels bringing this stereo compressor into a whole new league. Two compression modes are on offer, labelled British and American. The first mode (British) is designed to provide a cleaner and Hi-Fi sound will less gain and smoother sound while the second mode (American) adds more harmonics, for a livelier and richer sound.

The BG1 doesn’t boast the twin 6v6 output stage of the BG2 but gains stereo link controls, 9 position attack and release controls ranging from very fast to incredibly slow. It also boasts two inputs with different impedances, the standard 600 Ohms, and a smaller 150Ohms for more gain and transformer colour. It also allows running a microphone directly into the compressor with no preamp.
