LaChapell Audio 583S MkII 500 Series Tube Pre

The LaChapell Audio 583S MkII is a 500-series vacuum tube mic preamp based on the highly popular 992EG.

The LaChapell Audio 583S MkII is designed to add the warmth and character that only valves can offer. As such LaChapell 500-series pramp uses a similar topology as the 992EG with the same feedback loop configuration, Jensent JT-115K mic input transformer, input impedance and capacitance. However the 583 uses a single ended amplifier configuration with Cinemag CMOQ nickel alloy output transformer and superior balanced line drivers by Burr-Brown and THAT Corporation to deliver an extra clean output stage.

The 583s MkII comes with a JJ ECC803 valve which offers a huge amount of character and great performance. However LaChapell has made really easy to experiment with different tubes offering easy access to the valve. Whether you want to try vintage Telefunken ECC83 valves or 1960’s RCA 12AX7 black plates, every option is here to let you tailor your sound.

Unlike many other 500-series modules, the LaChapell 583 has been designed to be a good neighbour to your other modules with an enclosed chassis designed to prevent any unwanted interference and helps the direct cooling of the module.

The LaChapell 583S MkII is also very easy to use and flexible. Turn up the input gain to get as much character as you want and control the overall level with the output level control. Addition controls include +48V Phantom Power, a -20dB input pad, polarity reversal and input select which lets you select between mic and DI input.
