The Lake People MC100 Pro is a high-quality monitor controller tailored to meet the exacting standards of professional audio enthusiasts. Setting itself apart from conventional monitor controllers, this sophisticated device boasts an array of inputs, including a USB input featuring a high-quality D/A converter, 2 slave outputs, 3 loudspeaker outputs with a subwoofer, and a headphone path with X-Feed.
One of the distinguishing features of the MC100 Pro is its comprehensive set of stereo signal manipulation options. These include Solo L/R, Channel Swap, Phase Reverse, Mono, Mute, and Dim functions, all complemented by a high-quality volume control. This controller operates with minimal noise and distortion, pushing the boundaries of what physics allows.
The stereo inputs exhibit remarkable versatility. Two rear balanced inputs (input 1 and 2) are accessible via balanced XLR sockets. Additionally, a rear unbalanced input with RCA sockets (input 3) and a front unbalanced input with a 3.5 mm jack (input 4) provide flexible connectivity options. A rear USB input with a top-tier D/A converter for PCM signals up to 384 kHz / 32 bit and DSD 256 (input 5) completes this comprehensive input array.
Inputs can be individually activated via front buttons, and active inputs are indicated by LEDs. Unbalanced inputs can be set to a sensitivity of -10 dBV or +4 dBu, with the USB input LED displaying PCM signals in green and DSD signals in blue.
Signal manipulation is easily accessible with push buttons for left or right channel solo, channel swap, phase inversion of the left channel, mono switch, dim (-20 dB), and mute functions. The high-quality RK27 volume control, featuring a 41-detent, 50 mm button, allows for precise attenuation of three stereo output paths and the subwoofer (mono) output.
The MC100 Pro incorporates a 256-step relay-controlled attenuator, offering advantages in sound quality, crosstalk, channel matching, and life cycle over conventional solutions.
Turning to the stereo outputs, the rear slave outputs "Slave Out 1" and "Slave Out 2" come equipped with balanced XLR sockets. Rear outputs “A, B, C, and Sub (Mono)” feature balanced XLR sockets, with level adjustments of 0, -6, -12 dB. Output groups “A, B, and C” can be switched in single mode or adding-up mode via front-panel push buttons. The “Sub” output is individually activated, and assignment to the respective group is stored and recalled when reactivated.
The headphone amplifier, with its dedicated volume control, is activated by a button. X-Feed, designed to minimize In-Head-Localization when using headphones, can be activated separately. The X-Feed effect is adjusted by a turn pot, and the headphone amplifier accommodates both ¼” (6.3 mm) and 3.5 mm jacks, offering exceptional power for professional-grade headphones.
