Analogue groove box with four rhythm tracks and one capacitor-based analogue sequencer track capable of producing a wide range of analogue timbres, beats, and powerful sounds.

The LEP Leploop v3 is an analogue groove box with four rhythm tracks and one capacitor-based analogue sequencer track capable of producing a wide range of analogue timbres, beats, and powerful sounds.

The LEP Leploop v3 has two VCOs, one with triangle and square waves and the other with sawtooth, ring modulation, and FM. A white noise generator adds some snare, while a kick drum circuit with distortion and a trigger mixer are also present. The filter is a diode-based low pass with a bandwidth of 24dB/Oct. Two VCAs, two AR envelopes, and a single LFO are included. A four-channel mixer, clock output, MIDI, and a slew of CV patch points conclude the feature set.

Powerful sequencers

For sequencing, the Leploop includes four tracks of rhythm sequences and a capacitor-based analogue sequencer for the oscillators.

The Rhythm sequence contains four little red LEDs for track playback or analogue sequencer mode. The 16 LED bar displays the rhythm sequencer and other information. The analogue sequencer has a maximum length of 16 notes and works like an analogue delay, and the signal stored in the capacitors degrades over time. The onboard EEPROM has a capacity of 16 banks of 10 rhythm patterns.

The analogue sequencer has a maximum length of 16 notes and functions similarly to an analogue delay, with the signal stored in the capacitors degrading over time. The onboard EEPROM can store 16 banks of 10 rhythm patterns.

The sequencer’s tempo is controlled digitally to ensure perfect sync with the digital rhythm track sequencer and to sync to MIDI clock.

MIDI Implementation

The Leploop receives MIDI clock and also MIDI notes. It uses two MIDI channels, MIDI 1 to trigger PWM notes and channel 16 for the rhythm section.

This version comes in a beautiful and light wooden enclosure. A version with a nylon-printed case is also available.
