The Oberheim OB-X8 is an eight-voice polyphonic, all analogue synthesizer bringing back the legendary sound of the OB-Series with three different voice architectures.

Pure Analogue Signal Path
The OB-X8 features an all analogue signal path delivering the warmth and punch Oberheim is known for and heard on so many classics. It starts with the classic discrete VCOs based on Oberheim's original SEM synthesizers, delivering the incredible punch Tom Oberheim is known for.
This is followed by a choice of two filters, a discrete SEM-style VCF found in the original OB-X and a Curtis CEM3320 filter with a choice of 2-pole and 4-pole modes as found on the original OB-Xa and OB-8.
3 voices in one
The Oberheim OBX8 features a detailed recreation of different voice architectures of the OB-X, OB-Xa and OB-8, including the different filter types and other unique characteristics to create the most authentic OB experience. Furthermore, different attributes can be mixed together to create new sounds impossible to create in the past.
In addition to the filters, the OB-X8 has meticulously recreated the envelope response of all three classic synths, shaping the harmonics and loudness structure of the instrument.
The Evolution of a Classic
The OB-X8 is more than the sum of its parts. Not only, are the VCOs, VCF and envelopes meticulously recreated, but the team at Oberheim has also spent a lot of time getting the relationship between the various components of each synth in the OB-series just right.
Many beloved features have also been recreated in the menu including all the classic page 2 parameters as well as adding new ones, providing over 40 nuanced controls as well as adding new filter modes, LFO keyboard tracking, Per voice panning, MOD Delay time, Inversion of the EG and much more.
The OBX8 includes a premium FATAR keyboard with velocity and aftertouch sensitivity unlocking even more expressiveness than the original.
