The Pultec EQM-1A Matched Pair gives you two mastering Pultec EQ units with carefully chosen components for precise stereo matching.

The Pultec EQM-1A Matched pair is not a mere copy, but the actual real Pultec. Built to exacting standard by Dr Steve Jackson who has spent years of research in sourcing modern equivalent, the EQM-1A is indistinguishable from units built 50 years ago.

The only differences are the inclusion of Progressive-taper ELMA Switch stepped controls to allow for finer 0.5dB increments and easy recall. Another difference is the restricted 10dB boost/cut which is more suited for mastering applications.

The Pultec EQP-1A is one of the true legendary EQ, one that has featured on so many classic records due to its incredible ability to sweeten your sound or add weight like no other EQ. Simply passing audio through it will improve your sound and add excitement. Now mastering engineers will be able to add these much sought-after tonal qualities to their arsenal

Pultec EQs offer truly unique. They feature two bands with separate boost and cut controls that can be used together to create a resonant shelf curve. These resonant shelves work by boosting an area while also cutting just above, removing any unwanted frequency build-up. The result is a very tight and extremely musical sound that will add heft and smooth air top end in mastering without boxiness or harshness. This is the key to the Pultec sound.

The shelf frequency points are:

• Low Shelf Boost/Cut: 20kc, 30kc, 60kc and 100kc
• High Shelf Boost: 3kc, 4kc, 5kc, 8kc, 10kc, 12kc, 16kc
• High Shelf Cut: 5kc, 10kc, 20kc

The other side of the Pultec sound is due to its valve-driven push-pull gain make-up stage after the EQ, designed to make up for the loss of volume inherent to passive EQ designs.

• Noise: 92 dB below +10 dBm
• Distortion: ≤ 0.15% at +10 dBm into 600 ohms
• Amplifier: Flat, 20 Hz to 20 kHz, +/- 0.5 dB
