The Pultec EQP-1S3-SS is a rare variant of the legendary Pultec EQP-1A eq with different frequency curves and a solid-state make-up stage powered by the legendary API 2520 Op-amps.
The Pultec EQP-1S3-SS provides the same characteristics as the original that have made it a “classic”, including its unique ability to improve your music sound by passing sound through it.
Deep Low-End and Precise High-Frequency Sculpting
The EQP-1S3-SS has a two-band passive design with a low shelf and high peak/shelf and separate boost and cut controls that can be combined to create a resonant curve. This unique curve lets you, for example, increase the low end while notching the frequency above, removing unwanted build-ups. The result is a deep, tight, low-end ideal for kick drums and bass guitars. The high-frequency section follows a similar design but offers a choice between peak and shelf curves and dedicated frequency points for the attenuation. The different frequency points are:
- Low Shelf Boost/Cut: 30kcs, 40kcs, 70kcs and 100kcs
- High Bell Boost:1kcs, 2kcs, 3kcs, 4kcs, 5kcs, 6kcs, 8kcs, 10kcs, 12kcs
- High Shelf Boost: 5kcs, 10kcs
- High Shelf Cut: 5kc, 10kc, 20kc
Solid-State Amplification for Enhanced Clarity and Punch
Unlike the EQP-1A, the amplification in the EQP-1S3-SS is powered by the legendary API 2520 Op-amp instead of the valves found in the original design. The result is a less coloured sound than the tube version with more transients, punch and a slight mid-forward sound.
Meticulous Reissue of a Timeless Classic
The Pultec EQP-1S3-SS stands as more than just a clone; it is an impeccable reissue meticulously crafted to mirror the original unit that emerged over 50 years ago. Dr. Steve Jackson, driven by extensive research, undertook the task of assembling this remarkable recreation. With utmost care, Dr. Jackson sought out contemporary components that would flawlessly match the specifications of the authentic device, resulting in a modern counterpart worthy of its legendary predecessor.
