The RME HDSPe AoX-M is a high-performance audio interface card that sets the standard in professional audio production.

The RME HDSPe AoX-M card sets the benchmark for superior audio interfaces. Available in a Milan version with 128 x 128 channels, these cards utilise RME’s acclaimed driver architecture to deliver high channel counts to any DAW. They feature a 256-channel TotalMix™ engine and RME’s FPGA-based super low latency hardware mixer.

Interface and Connectivity

Occupying a single slot, the PCIe x4 interface transmits and receives up to 512 network audio signals via two gigabit Ethernet ports. The network audio channels can be replaced or extended (in the Milan® version) with MADI signals by adding two optional dual optical SFP or dual coaxial extension cards.

Integration and Versatility

For the first time, it’s possible to integrate four MADI input signals, four MADI output signals, plus up to 256 network audio channels per direction within a single audio interface on macOS® and Windows®. The ¼” stereo headphone jack allows engineers to monitor any signal reaching the card from the computer, the network, or the optional MADI inputs. A stereo AES3 digital I/O and MIDI are also available on a breakout cable, enhancing its versatility.

Channel Management

The user manages the vast number of channels via the driver’s software dialogue, featuring a routing matrix for flexible connections between hardware I/O and software I/O. The user selects 256 channels to send to TotalMix, which offers level metering, preset management, layouts, sub-mixes, loopback, and more. An additional 256 channels pass straight through to the DAW, providing 512 channels for recording. Higher sampling rates are supported with a corresponding reduction in channel count, except for the Milan version, which supports 128 channels at 96 kHz and 64 channels at 192 kHz. Both cards can be installed in external Thunderbolt™ enclosures, ideal for mobile recording setups, or in common DAWs or audio processors.

MADI I/O Expansion Cards
