The Schoeps MK2H is an omnidirectional capsule part of the Colette series, designed to be used with the CMC range of preamplifiers.
The Schoeps MK2H is designed to be used primarily as an ambience microphone, capturing the source from a distance. To achieve this, the MK 2Hg capsule boasts a narrower sound inlet leading to a natural acoustic shelving response from above 6 kHz to compensate for the loss of high-frequency definition preserving the natural quality of the sound.
Especially suited for the recording of orchestras, the Schoeps MK2H has an extremely linear response and exhibits a really low noise. As a result, it is often the microphone of choice for the most demanding applications. Extremely popular for recording classical music, the MK2H performs especially well as part of a stereo spaced pair configuration or as part of a Decca Tree.
