The Schoeps MK4g is a cardioid capsule for the Colette series of modular pencil microphones 

The Schoeps MK4g is a well defined cardioid polar pattern through the entire frequency spectrum offering maximum rejection of sound coming from the back. At 90degrees it provides a 6dB attenuation and up to 30dB reduction at the back (180 degrees) depending on the frequency spectrum. As a result, the MK4 can be placed 1.7 times further from the source while maintaining the same balance of direct versus reverberant sound. When used in the diffuse sound field, the microphone exhibits a flat frequency response with a slight HF boost at 10kHz.

The MK4g is perfect for recording voices or music and delivers a defined image with no colouration. It is ideal for X/Y and ORTF recording configurations or as the Mid microphone in a Mid/Side configuration.
