The Scope Labs Periscope Pair is a one-of-a-kind small-diaphragm condenser microphone with an integrated compressor and a finely calibrated mix of an omnidirectional capsule and phantom-powered electronics for instant edge, punch, and character.

The Scope Labs Periscope was developed by inventor Paavo Kurkela and sound engineer Mattia Sartori to capture the nuances of acoustic instruments and vocals. Unlike other microphone manufacturers, the development team chose a unique strategy, foregoing excellent transient response or a constant polar pattern in favour of anticipating sound-processing processes often designated for the mixing process. As a result, the microphone is perfectly adapted to current audio production needs, with built-in level-dependent compression and saturation.

The Periscope produces a broad range of effects, from minor improvements in spatiality and fatness to significant compression, intense "sucking," and dramatic saturation artefacts. Compression and saturation may be accurately controlled, as well as the location and distance from the sound source, ensuring a mix-ready, powerful, and melodic output.

Meanwhile, significant effort was taken throughout development to match the frequency response to the capsule, thereby preventing undesired resonances.

The Periscope's excellent features are notably beneficial for drum overheads, ambience, and acoustic guitar recordings, giving everything needed for solid placement in the mix throughout the recording stage.
