The SPL Control One is a desktop monitor controller with SPL’s Crossfeed matrix and two different speaker outputs.
The SPL Control One gives you excellent sound and control over the monitoring of your production. It includes two switchable sets of speakers with a subwoofer output and two input sources directly reputed to a line-level output when selected.
Flexible Monitoring
The Control One provides access to the most crucial monitoring functionalities starting with a choice of studio monitors via a three-position toggle switch. The mid-position of the switch bypasses the speakers completely without having to turn the volume control down, leaving your monitor setting untouched.
In addition to the large volume control, a monitoring mode lets you switch between Stereo or mono modes. A third position inverts Left and right channels for catching strange stereo errors. The input source select lets you choose between line 1 or Line 2 or both simultaneously.
A Line-Out lets you route your signal to additional outboard processors, mixers or headphone amps depending on your requirements.
Powerful Headphone Amp with Phonitor Matrix
The Control One also includes a powerful headphone amp capable of powering even the most hungry headphones. Using a push-pull Class AB amplifier the Control One is capable of providing higher out levels thanks to bipolar transistors sharing the amplification of positive and negative half-waves. Furthermore, thermally-coupled output stage transistors ensure a consistent and stable stereo image.
It also boasts a simplified version Phonitor Matrix technology with Crossfeed control found on SPL’s flagship headphone amps. It works by sending a slightly delayed signal to the other channel, creating a phantom centre, just like when listening to speakers. The Phonitor Matrix creates a more realistic listening experience on headphones by controlling three parameters: Crossfeed, Speaker Angle and Centre Level.
On the Control One, Speaker angle and centre levels are fixed to 30° speaker angle and -1dB Centre level allowing you to simply control the amount of the desired crossfeed. When set to the minimum value, the crossfeed circuit is completely removed from the audio path using a hysteresis circuit relay, removing any cross-talk.
