The Telefunken M62 FET Hyper-Cardioid Small Diaphragm Microphone is a transistor-based solid state condenser microphone designed for superior reproduction of transients and high SPL handling capabilities.
The Telefunken M62 FET Hyper-Cardioid uses the TK62 Hyper-cardioid capsule which can also be used with the ELA M 260 tube microphone. With a 6 micron gold-sputtered and diameter of 15mm membrane the M62 FET easily captures full lows and fast transient response. Moreover it has a flat frequency response from 150Hz up to 7kHz and a smooth air presence peak at 8kHz ideal to capture percussions or acoustic instruments.
The M62 FET Hyper-Cardioid is inspired by classic FET designs and uses a proprietary circuit topology and carefully selected components added by hand on a gold-plated circuit board. As a result the M62 FET captures an ultra-clean sound typical of Class A discrete amplifiers and a frequency response of +/-2dB between 20Hz and 50kHz.
The M62 FET Hyper-Cardioid uses a custom American-made transformer to match the output and provide low self-noise and a THD+N of less than 0.015% making the M62 FET ideal for critical recording situations.
The M62 FET Hyper-Cardioid excels at recording acoustic instruments and percussive instruments capturing all the nuances and subtleties of the instrument with impressive precision and clarity, offering a very detailed image full of definition and natural presence.
