The Tierra Audio Calima Mic Preamp is a single-channel analogue microphone preamplifier designed to offer an aggressive and full-bodied sound particularly suited for drums and percussive instruments and modern productions.
The Tierra Audio Calima Mic Preamp adds even harmonics and linear phase distortion to create a strong, modern sound with a fast transient response that adds an uncanny presence with more definition.
Calima excels on percussive instruments adding incredible punch, detail and depth that will cut through heavy mixes. This also applies to electric guitars, capturing all the punch of an amplifier and bring out the midrange and body. Rhythm guitars are also enhanced to create a thicker, defined sound thanks to their dazzling headroom.
Calima is handmade in Madrid, Spain, with a lot of care and attention to detail to provide the ideal electron flux of the analogue signal using “through-hole” components. These techniques ensure minimum electronic friction and enhanced thermal response to minimise background noise.
Calima features original Carnhill transformers ensuring stable, precise and long-lasting result with ultra-low noise. A VU meter provides an accurate display of the analogue signal gain level.
Tierra Audio aims to deliver high-quality equipment with minimum impact on the environment and uses aluminium for its durability, lightness, corrosion resistance and thermal insulation, as well as its ability to be easily recycled. This commitment to the planet is also very apparent with its pure cherry wood faceplate, which comes from sustainable forests and provides superior thermal insulation.
