The United Studio Technologies UT FET47 is a modern recreation of the legendary U47 FET with Heiserman K47 capsule, custom Cinemag transformer and new-old-stock FETs.
The United Studio Technologies UT FET47 is a side-addressed FET large-diaphragm condenser mic with a fixed cardioid pattern. It includes a 75Hz high-pass filter and a -10dB pad switched.
With an SPL level of 136dB (145dB with the pad engaged), the UT FET47 can be used on loud sources like kick drums. It also works great on vocals and acoustic guitars thanks to its wide frequency response and presence boost between 2kHz and 15kHz.
Faithful and Modern Recreation
The United Studio Technologies UTFET47 recreates the classic sound of an original U47 FET at a fraction of the price. After several years of research and development, the UT FET 47 includes custom parts, vintage and new-old-stock components, and modern manufacturing techniques.
Designed by recording engineers and built in the USA, the UT FET47 delivers uncompromising quality and the sonic character of one of the most desired solid-state condenser microphones.
Heiserman Designed K47 Capsule
The UTFET47 boasts a custom edge-terminated HZ K47 capsule developed in close collaboration with capsule designer and manufacturer Eric Heiserman. This capsule results from months of in-depth analysis, covering every aspect of the capsule, from the sourced Mylar to the thread types of screws. After several iterations, the HZ-series capsule delivers incredible performance with an open, articulate and incredibly three-dimensional sound.
Each capsule is made from precision-milled brass and gold-sputtered, six-micron Japanese PET film. It uses dual backplates instead, which are meticulously matched to provide a far more accurate and consistent performance on each side of the capsule. This process also ensures more consistency between each capsule.
Only a few capsules are built at any time and are carefully tested and listened to adhere to United and Heiserman's stringent standards.
Custom Cinemag Transformer
After extensive listening tests, United have opted for the Custom Cinemag CM-13101, a transformer specifically designed to replace the original transformers found on the 47 FET.
The hefty transformer uses interleaved sets of high nickel and steel laminations wound to match the specs of the original German transformer. The result is superb sonics and clean and quiet operation.
