The Vanguard Audio Labs V4 Gen 2 is an exceptional large-diaphragm FET condenser microphone, effortlessly competing with microphones priced significantly higher. It outshines its predecessor with enhanced sound staging and a lower signal-to-noise ratio. The V4 Gen 2 is purpose-built to be your go-to microphone, all without straining your budget.
In crafting the V4, Vanguard Audio Labs drew inspiration from classic FET microphones. They embarked on this journey with an oversized 34mm edge-terminated, gold-sputtered Mylar dual-capsule assembly. This capsule was meticulously tailored using a proprietary hand-tuning process. It finds its home in an open-weave head basket, reducing internal reflections and delivering a natural sound. Subsequently, a transformerless solid-state circuit was designed, harmonising with the capsules' unique musical characteristics and laden with top-tier components.
With the transistor being a pivotal element in the signal path, Vanguard diligently examined multiple options before settling on an ultra-high-grade FET transistor. This choice witnessed tangible improvements in audio quality, headroom, distortion, soundstage, and noise floor.
Each microphone undergoes rigorous testing and quality control measures, ensuring that Vanguard takes pride in every microphone that leaves its workshop.
The V4 Gen 2 includes the VLSM heavy-duty shockmount, a redesigned marvel featuring an open front that enables users to position the microphone as close to the source as needed. This shockmount is fortified with aerospace-grade suspension rings designed to resist wear and maintain its integrity over time.
A padded pinewood box is provided to shield the microphone from potential impacts for safe storage. These components are then housed in a purpose-built aluminium carry case, guaranteeing protection during transportation or storage.
