The Warm Audio WA-8000 is a large-diaphragm condenser tube microphone based on the legendary sony C-800 microphone and includes NOS tube and Lundahl transformers.
The Warm Audio WA-8000 recreates the highly sought-after valve microphone that has shaped the sound of R’nB, Hip-hop and pop music in the 1990s. It features a natural and open high-end, incredibly clear midrange that brings out an unsurpassed level of details in vocal performances.
At the heart of the WA-8000 lies a custom K-67 inspired all-brass capsule that matches the performance of the original, capturing every nuance of a vocal or instrument. This is followed by a custom-made Lundhal transformer with a large core that is critical to the open top-end associated with the original microphone.
A NOS (New Old Stock) 6AU6 vacuum tube provides the tonal character of the original microphone while the custom-designed heat sink ensures optimum temperature for the valve to operate, reducing greatly the amount of self-noise and distortion. A custom GAC-7 7-pin cable made by Gotham in Switzerland. The quality of the cable ensures no loss of top-end presence and the overall size of the recorded sound.
