The Heritage Audio Herchild Model 670 is a faithful recreation of the legendary Fairchild 670 compressor with easy access to the DC Threshold and the addition of a Sidechain filter.
The Heritage Audio Herchild Model 670 captures the soul of the original classic compressor delivering the same signature sound that made the original a classic for the last 60 years.
Recreating a Classic…
The Heritage Audio Herchild 670 has spent considerable time recreating the original design and sourcing necessary components including the NOS vari-mu valves as well as custom made transformers. The Herchild 670 includes no less than 22 tubes and nine transformers and oozes character.
Time constants have also been faithfully reproduced to recreate the feel of the original as well as the choice between dual-mono(Left/Right), Link or Mid-Side (Lat/Vert) modes.
… updated for the modern days'
Heritage Audio has also taken the opportunity to add features to make this legendary classic into a modern-day powerhouse.
The Herchild 670 now offers direct access to the DC Threshold, a variable slope control that modifies the knee of the compressor. This feature was not easily accessible on the original.
In addition, the herchild 670 includes a Sidechain filter with a choice of four different frequency points to choose from to specifically tailor the compression response to low-frequency.
The Herchild sees a fourth mode not available on the original called LAT/VERT Link that links both channel's compression based on the Mid/Side detection. In practice, this means that Mono information will trigger the Mid and Side compression opening up new possibilities.
