The Heritage Audio Tubesessor is an optical tube compressor with dedicated tube saturation and extensive sidechain filtering options. It can provide clean, smooth, and natural compression or a more noticeable coloured tone.
The Heritage Audio Tubesessor employs an all-tube amplification stage that includes a UTC 10 input transformer and a custom steel output transformer. Furthermore, its high operating voltage ensures its character and mojo remain consistent throughout. Regardless of the gain reduction, the result is transparent dynamics control and a clear and deep sound.
Although inspired by classic opto compressors, the Tubesessor brings new features to push things to even further. First is the innovative Tube saturation section. Featuring a NOS Raytheon double triode tube, the Tubesessor adds creamy colour and aggressive tone. This section offers a choice of four settings: Classic (no saturation), Mild, Medium and Hot. This feature brings many sound-shaping options, ideal for bass, drums and many more instruments.
The output stage includes an audiophile-grade Psvane dual-output triode used in a totem pole configuration, ensuring a solid output stage with noticeably higher headroom.
The Tubesessor includes extensive sidechain filtering options directly from the Heritage Audio Successor. Two of the five settings are dedicated to reducing the low-end’s ability to trigger the compressor, while the remaining three options are frequency specific for creative compression.
Fully adjustable time constants are provided as well as fixed and dual fixed/manual modes that allow shaping the response of the compressor perfectly.
A large VU meter indicates what’s happening and can monitor input, output or gain reduction amount.
