The Royer R-121 Live is a version of the legendary R-121 specifically tailored for live use with a thicker ribbon, increased sensitivity and SPL handling.
The Royer R-121 Live has a similar output level to dynamic microphones and delivers the same warmth and smooth tone of the R-121 studio edition, removing the harsh high-frequencies associated with live guitars and brass instruments. The 4-micron ribbon element offers greater durability and slightly reduced high-frequency response. Its smooth high-frequency response means the R-121 Live usually requires less EQ’ing than condenser and dynamic microphones.
The Figure-of-eight polar pattern can be used to provide effective stage bleed control with strong side rejection at the null points. These null points include both sides as well as top and bottom providing superior isolation.
The R-121 Live is the ideal microphone for live guitars with SPL handling of 135dB at 20Hz. Place it in front of your guitar amp and turn it up, your microphone will handle it with no problem.
