Terry Audio (White Edition)
The Terry Audio CEQ stands as a formidable 5U 6-band mastering EQ, integrating a blend of passive and active bands to epitomise the zenith of EQ design.
Rooted in an inductor-based EQ framework, the CEQ pays homage to the esteemed Western Electric era. It incorporates additional elements such as Pultec passive resonant shelves and Neumann PEV lacquer/vinyl cutting EQ boost. An added layer of innovation comes from an active mid-cut circuit that not only governs frequencies but also influences the reactivity of the audio.
A Fusion of Heritage Designs
At the heart of the CEQ lies a confluence of heritage designs, including the 'Cinema Engineering' bass and treble controls with expanded, exploded, and refined steps using true heritage inductors. It also features a 'German Design Heritage' lathe/vinyl cutting band for mid-boost bell control and a new hybrid passive/active mid-bell cut, all housed within a robust 5RU equaliser. The CEQ allows for the simultaneous operation of these filters or can be run 'single-ended' by toggling switches for output transformers and an input buffer, catering to diverse audio soundstage objectives. By consolidating the functionalities of multiple vintage equalisers, the CEQ eliminates the need for searching, restoring, or cascading different units, preserving clarity, vibrancy, and colour in mixes and masters. The unique 'Shift' control introduces a second set of EQ filters in the low-frequency range, providing a distinct EQ soundstage and tonal shift with a simple switch flip.
Crafted with Premium Components
Premium components are the hallmark of the CEQ, featuring custom-wound inductors with heritage "power core" toroids. The chosen output transformer, exclusively crafted for the CEQ by a legendary "rogue" winder from 1960s Chicago, imparts a rich vintage tone.
All controls employ fully stepped Elma Switches, ensuring seamless recall and precision settings.
While primarily tailored for mixbuss and mastering applications, the CEQ delivers breathtaking performance even in tracking sessions.
