Rupert Neve Designs 5057 Orbit
The Rupert Neve Designs 5057 Orbit is a 16x2 summing mixer using Class-A circuit design with custom transformers and Rupert Neve’s Silk Red and Blue circuitry and Texture.
The Rupert Neve Designs 5057 Orbit delivers the tone, punch and open soundstage associated with its class A analogue summing for the past 60 years and transforms sterile mixes into vibrant, clear and deep while keeping the convenience of mixing with a DAW.
Custom Transformer
At its heart, the 5057 Orbit features a highly custom output transformer configuration originally found on the Shelford Channel. the output transformer feeds two different outputs, a Main output and a -6dB output. The lower output can drive the 5057 hard without clipping the AD converter or the next device in the chain.
Hitting the output transformer towards saturation will create music harmonics and a glue that will bring digital mixes to life, adding richness, harmonic complexity and depth unlike anything else.
This transformer colouration is the essence of Rupert Neve’s legacy throughout the years.
Silk Circuit
In addition, the 5057 includes Rupert Neve’s renowned Silk circuit with both Silk Red and Silk Blue options (available at a press of a button), giving you additional control over the harmonic density and tonality of the mix.
Used with the Silk Red mode, it will boost the transformer saturation in the high and high mid-region, creating a vibrant midrange full of natural presence often associated with Rupert Neve’s vintage equipment.
On the other hand, the Silk Blue will excite the lows and low midrange, adding density, thickness, and weight, ideal for thin-sounding mixes.
The Silk brings highly musical harmonics to the mix based on the amount of Texture applied.
By driving a mix hard and combining Silk and texture controls, the 5057 provides a rich saturated sound full of a vintage vibe. For situations where a clean and open sound is required, disengage the Silk texture.
Accurate with Wide Stereo Image
Each channel of the 5057 has been set with precision within +/-0.1dB and has extremely low crosstalk. This ensures the widest and most accurate stereo image, resulting in superior depth and detailed audio rendition.
Modular by Design
Multiple units can be chained together using the Buss Link connections allowing for larger track counts. Alternatively, it can be used with the 5059 Satellite for additional summing flexibility and routing.
Paired with the 5060, the Orbit creates a core of a world-class analogue modular console system capable of rivalling any large-scale studio setup.
Perfect integration with DAW Systems
The simple design of the Orbit makes it easy to recall a session and set its level with precision while adding the rich tone of Rupert Neve’s Class A transformer-coupled designs.
