The Rupert Neve Designs Portico 5045 Primary Source Enhancer is a dual-channel processor designed to effectively reduce feedback without affecting the original sound source.

The Rupert Neve Designs Portico 5045 Primary Source Enhancer works by increasing the level of a microphone by up to 20dB before feedback occurs. Although it shares some similarities with traditional noise gates such as the reducing of levels when no signals are going through, the Portico 5045 actually works on a different principle.

The RND 5045 starts attenuating the signal falling below the user-defined threshold minimising the risk of feedbacks. With simple controls the Portico makes it easy to achieve great results very fast. Centred on the Depth and Threshold controls that affect the level at which the level starts dropping once the level falls below the user-defined level. The time constant control, affects how fast or slow the processor works and features 6 settings called A, B, C, D, E, F. A is the fastest setting can add unwanted choppiness while F will provide slower and natural attack but fading back up too slowly. Moderate C and D settings will generally work on most programs.

An additional RMS/Peak button affects timing further with Peak mode acting on the fast level changes while RMS affects slower but with is a more musical way, relying on the average signal level.

The RND Portico 5045 is the ultimate tool for Front of House engineers working for any venues, from churches, stadiums, performance halls and any venue with feedback problems.
