The Ashun Ssound Machine Leviasynth Desktop is ASM’s hybrid algorithmic desktop synthesiser providing 16-voice polyphony, eight oscillators per voice, dual digital and analogue filtering, and a performance-led Polytouch interface for advanced sound design and expressive control.

Sound Engine and Oscillators

Leviasynth extends the Hydrasynth architecture into a deeper algorithm-driven system in which eight oscillators per voice operate inside 144 preset algorithms plus one fully customisable structure per patch. Each oscillator accesses more than 300 waveforms and seven independent modes, including Phase Modulation, Frequency Modulation, Pulse Width Modulation, HTE Sync, and three distinct forms of Phase Distortion, enabling precise control over harmonic complexity and timbral movement. Algorithm morphing continuously reshapes oscillator relationships rather than switching between static routings, allowing fluid, evolving textures. Every oscillator carries its own dedicated volume envelope, while five shared envelopes and five tempo-syncable LFOs provide additional modulation using classic, stepped, and randomised waveforms with semitone locking for musical stability.

Filters and Modulation

The instrument combines a Hydrasynth-style digital multimode filter with an analogue 24 dB per octave low-pass filter featuring pre-drive saturation and self-oscillation, allowing tones to move seamlessly from clean and precise to rich and overdriven. A 32-slot modulation matrix routes sources freely to destinations without fixed limitations, while eight macro controllers give performers immediate access to complex modulation structures. Microtuning support and two variable randomisers encourage experimental tuning systems and evolving sound design rather than static preset playback.

Performance and Sequencing

Sixteen Polytouch pads provide polyphonic aftertouch and velocity sensitivity, making Leviasynth fully MPE-compatible for multidimensional performance. The three-track sequencer records both note data and macro automation, producing dynamic, animated patterns rather than simple loops. The arpeggiator introduces an Entropy function for real-time probabilistic variation, alongside nine modes and detailed controls for octave range, gate, length, swing, ratchet, chance, and step offset, giving musicians sophisticated rhythmic manipulation during performance.

Effects and Connectivity

Two insert effects and two master effects process the signal using nine insert types, five delays, and four reverbs, covering chorus, flanger, rotary, phaser, lo-fi, tremolo, EQ, compression, distortion, delay, and reverb. Connectivity includes balanced stereo outputs, a dedicated headphone output, USB Type-B, full MIDI In, Out, and Thru, two expression or sustain pedal inputs, and extensive 1/8-inch CV, Gate, Mod, and Clock connections for modular integration. A 12-volt, 2-amp power supply supports a solid desktop chassis measuring 44.2 centimetres wide and weighing 4.75 kilograms.

Patches and Workflow

Single mode activates all 16 voices per patch, while Multi mode splits or layers two independent eight-voice parts for complex performance setups. The factory library includes 512 Single mode and 256 Multi mode presets created by professional sound designers, with total storage capacity expanding to 1,024 Single and 640 Multi patch locations. The free ASM Patch Manager for Mac and PC manages firmware updates, backups, and patch organisation, improving studio workflow and reliability.
