Overview

ATC developed the SCS120 Pro to combine the proven strengths of its classic sealed-box subwoofer designs with modern driver engineering and flexible installation options. The new 15-inch bass unit uses a high-power neodymium motor and a highly linear suspension to deliver cleaner low-frequency output and lower distortion across the entire operating range. ATC mounts the driver in a 120-litre sealed cabinet that raises efficiency by 3 dB and improves bass extension down to 20 Hz at minus 6 dB compared to the 12-inch SCS70 Pro. The cabinet matches the width of the SCM150A and SCM150AiW Pro monitors, which preserves the visual balance of full ATC systems while placing the partnering monitors at an ideal working height.

SCS120 Pro

The freestanding SCS120 Pro uses a radius baffle and a rear-mounted amplifier module. ATC equips this version with the same R1-300 amplifier platform as the SCS70 Pro but couples it to the new 15-inch driver to achieve higher output, greater low-end authority and smoother integration with SCM110, SCM150, SCM200 and SCM300 monitors. Studios that require deeper bass extension or additional headroom beyond what the SCS70 Pro provides can deploy the SCS120 Pro as a direct upgrade without altering workflow or system topology.

Driver and Mechanical Design

The 15-inch driver forms the foundation of the system’s performance. Its neodymium motor keeps mass low but magnetic strength high, and its long-throw, highly linear suspension gives the cone precise control at very high excursion. ATC designed the motor structure to minimise distortion and maintain tonal integrity at reference monitoring levels. The increased cone area improves transient impact, raises overall efficiency and ensures more accurate reproduction of the lowest octaves.

System Integration

ATC matched the cabinet width to the SCM150 series, which allows a combined system to maintain a cohesive aesthetic. The cabinet height positions the SCM150 monitors at a natural listening elevation for most studio environments. The result is a unified monitoring system that behaves as a coherent whole in both form and function.
