Exceptional Sound Isolation
The supercardioid pattern effectively isolates sound sources while minimizing unwanted background noise, ensuring clarity and precision in both studio and live recording environments.
The Austrian Audio CC8-SC is a supercardioid small diaphragm true condenser microphone with an OCC7 precision capsule, transformerless analogue circuitry, ultra low self noise of 13 dBA, maximum sound pressure handling of 155 dB SPL, switchable high pass filters and dual attenuation pads engineered for studio and live sound isolation critical recording.
The Austrian Audio CC8-SC delivers focused and controlled capture for environments where separation and clarity define the result. The supercardioid polar pattern creates a narrow pickup angle that isolates the source while actively rejecting lateral and rear stage spill. This behaviour supports accurate close miking of cymbals, percussion, brass, strings and amplified sources where bleed management shapes mix clarity.
The microphone integrates a transformerless analogue circuit that preserves transient detail and harmonic accuracy while maintaining an exceptionally low noise floor. Engineers can apply high gain and compression without exposing background noise, which supports detailed acoustic recordings and dense multi track productions.
The CC8-SC uses the Austrian Audio OCC7 capsule which the factory calibrates to a sensitivity tolerance of ±0.5 dB at 1 kHz. This strict calibration allows consistent stereo pairing across production batches and maintains tonal continuity between microphones used years apart. The capsule delivers a linear frequency response with controlled low and high frequency roll off that manages stage rumble and harsh transients at the source.
This capsule design supports accurate transient tracking and micro dynamic resolution across the entire frequency spectrum, which benefits orchestral instruments, classical guitar, piano, percussion and sound design capture.
The CC8-SC handles sound pressure levels up to 155 dB SPL while maintaining a dynamic range of 132 dB. This capability allows confident placement on loud cymbals, brass and percussion without distortion. The microphone maintains a self noise rating of only 13 dBA, which preserves detail on quiet acoustic sources and supports aggressive post processing without noise accumulation.
Two selectable high pass filters at 60 Hz and 120 Hz remove low frequency rumble and proximity build up. Switchable -10 dB and -20 dB attenuation pads expand headroom for extreme sound pressure environments while maintaining clean transient reproduction.
A rugged compact metal housing protects the capsule during transport and stage use. The microphone uses a standard three pin XLR connector and operates on 48 volt phantom power with low current draw, which ensures compatibility with professional consoles, preamps and audio interfaces.
