The Avid Pro Tools | Carbon and Carbon Pre Bundle is a high-performance, all-in-one recording solution, featuring a 16x16 AVB interface with ADAT, 16 ultra-transparent mic preamps (eight with variable impedance), built-in DSP for HDX offload, four headphone outs, four Hi-Z inputs, one stereo monitor output, and 32-bit/192kHz AD/DA conversion with seamless integration via Ethernet and remote preamp control.

Connecting via Ethernet, it eliminates the need for traditional Mini DigiLink connectors. This AVB technology, perfected in Avid’s live sound Venue consoles, now enhances studio performance, offering superior reliability and expanded connectivity.
Built-in HDX Performance
Avid Pro Tools | Carbon is equipped with 9 TI DSP chips, enabling HDX processing without needing an external HDX DSP card. When paired with Pro Tools Software users can offload channel processing directly onto the DSP, enhancing system efficiency and boosting the number of tracks and effects that can be processed in real-time.
Superior Sound Quality with the Carbon Pre
The Pro Tools | Carbon Pre, an 8-channel AVB expander, delivers pristine 32-bit/192kHz AD/DA conversion with dual precision clocking. It features eight mic/line preamps, two Hi-Z inputs, ADAT I/O, and word clock I/O, making it ideal for multi-mic sessions. Like the Carbon interface, its preamps include variable impedance on inputs 5-8, ensuring flexible microphone performance and capturing audio with exceptional clarity and depth.
Extensive I/O and Workflow Benefits
The Carbon Pre expands your system’s I/O to 24 channels, featuring eight transparent mic preamps, eight line outputs, and comprehensive digital connections. It offers remote control over all preamp settings, including phantom power, gain, and impedance switching, directly within Pro Tools. This efficient workflow allows fast session recall, saves significant setup time, and ensures seamless integration with Eucon-compatible control surfaces.
Scalable System Expansion
The Carbon Pre provides a flexible solution for expanding your Pro Tools Carbon system or any ADAT-enabled setup. You can connect up to nine Carbon Pre units to scale your system’s capabilities. It also functions as a stand-alone preamp over ADAT, offering easy integration with other non-Carbon systems or Thunderbolt interfaces, making it a versatile addition to any studio.
