The Barefoot Sound MiniMain12 is a 4-way, 7-driver sealed active reference monitor that delivers ultra-wide bandwidth from 20 Hz to 40 kHz with powerful Hypex amplification and precise dispersion for professional mid-field studio environments.
The Barefoot Sound MiniMain12 stands as a flagship reference monitor for engineers who demand absolute accuracy and full-range reproduction. It houses seven drivers in individually sealed chambers to maintain internal pressure control and transient precision, including dual 12-inch subwoofers, dual 7-inch woofers, dual 2.5-inch aluminium midrange drivers, and a 1-inch ring-radiator tweeter with a neodymium motor. Every driver benefits from its own dedicated amplifier, with 250 watts driving the tweeter and midrange units, 250 watts powering the woofers, and 1200 watts energising the subwoofers for immense low-frequency headroom and extremely low distortion. The sealed acoustic system ensures tight low-end response down to 20 Hz with a Q of 0.707 and a 12 dB/octave roll-off, delivering clean extension without port turbulence or phase smear. Barefoot builds the enclosure with machined aluminium bracing and uses aluminium driver frames to enhance rigidity, eliminating unwanted resonance.
The MiniMain12 also integrates Barefoot’s MEME technology, which recreates the tonal character of popular nearfield and consumer playback systems, enabling engineers to audition mixes without switching speakers or repositioning monitors. This system suits mid-field placement yet covers a listening area larger than most monitors of its class, offering unmatched imaging and coherent phase response over distance. The precision crossover network, developed over four years, operates at 80 Hz, 800 Hz, and 4 kHz to control dispersion and maintain system linearity. Engineers benefit from high input impedance at 50 kΩ, wide sensitivity of 88 dB at 1 metre with a nominal signal, and total internal volume of 82 litres to support the sealed low-frequency architecture. The build weighs 61 kilograms per speaker and measures 660 by 343 by 508 millimetres, confirming its position as a serious studio main monitor.
The speaker features professional-grade input sensitivity tailored for studio interfaces and controllers. It operates from idle consumption of 50 watts up to 1500 watts maximum draw under demanding programme material. Each amplifier section uses high-efficiency Hypex architecture to maintain thermal stability, long-term reliability, and minimal distortion across the entire operating range. Handles are available separately to assist with positioning in large control rooms and high-end production facilities.
