The Burl Audio B16 Mothership 3 BMB3 Dante is a cutting-edge audio interface designed for seamless integration into Dante networks, offering expanded channel counts, automatic configuration, and flexibility for studio professionals needing high-performance digital-to-analogue and analogue-to-digital conversion.
Mothership 3 introduces significantly increased channel capabilities. With the latest update, each daughter card slot can support up to 32 channels at 44.1kHz and 48kHz, 32 channels at 88.2kHz and 96kHz, and 16 channels at 176.4kHz and 192kHz. The new architecture unlocks the full potential of the system for larger and more complex setups, maximising efficiency for high-end professional audio environments.
The B16 Mothership 3 eliminates the need for manual jumper settings by introducing a new intercommunication protocol. This feature enables the system to detect and automatically configure the daughter cards, allowing users to mix and match different cards without the hassle of manual configuration. Whether using input or output cards, the system assigns channels dynamically, offering total flexibility in how you organise your setup.
With the BMB3-Dante motherboard, the B16 Mothership 3 connects directly to Dante audio networks, making it ideal for larger, multi-room studios. Dante integration ensures high channel counts and efficient data routing, delivering the flexibility and scalability required for complex studio environments.
The B16 Mothership 3 is fully compatible with the BURL GREEN line of 4- and 8-channel daughter cards. New GREEN daughter cards shipped after 7 October 2024 will include a "D Jumper" setting for Mothership 3 compatibility. Mothership 3 offers compatibility with all new BURL BLACK daughter cards, ensuring that professionals investing in the system today remain future-proofed for years to come.
Mothership 2 users can continue using their systems with full functionality. However, Mothership 3 is not field-upgradable, and any upgrade requires sending the unit back to Burl Audio for reprogramming. Importantly, there is no difference in sound quality between Mothership 2 and 3, making it possible to stay with Mothership 2 without compromise if full compatibility with the latest features isn’t required.
