The B80 Mothership 3 BMB3 Dante configuration suits modern hybrid studios, broadcast facilities, immersive audio rooms and performance venues seeking uncompromising analogue tone with state-of-the-art AoIP connectivity and flexible, future-ready expansion.

Massively Expanded Dante Capability

Mothership 3 releases the full bandwidth potential of the B80 system and enables up to sixty-four channels per card slot at 44.1/48 kHz. Current Burl BAD16 and BDA16 modules run at sixteen channels per slot, however this new platform lays groundwork for next-generation Dante daughter cards supporting the full sixty-four channel count per slot. The BMB3 Dante motherboard delivers up to one hundred and twenty-eight Dante channels in or out at base sample rates, allowing users to build high-capacity systems such as 128 x 32, 32 x 128 or balanced 64 x 96 configurations across the ten-slot B80 chassis.

Automatic I/O Assignment and Card Detection

A new internal communication protocol enables Mothership 3 to detect daughter cards and map I/O automatically. Users no longer adjust jumpers or group cards in specific slots. The system counts channels from left to right and allows input and output modules in any order. For example, a BAD4M in slot one and a BAD16 in slot ten will automatically form inputs one to twenty. The same intuitive logic applies to Burl B22, BDA8 and BDA16 output cards, supporting complete freedom in system layout and future expansion.

Advanced Dante Integration

With native Dante connectivity and expanded channel handling, the B80-BMB3 model joins broadcast cores, immersive networks, live infrastructures and distributed studio systems with minimal latency and sample-accurate clocking. It enables seamless routing through Dante Controller and integrates effortlessly with consoles, networked preamps, speaker processors and multi-room systems while anchoring the front end with Burl’s celebrated transformer-centred analogue sound.

Future-Proof System Architecture

From October 2024, Burl ships all motherboards and daughter cards with Mothership 3 support. Existing Burl Green cards include a D-Jumper to switch between Mothership 2 and Mothership 3 environments. Users running Mothership 2 systems may continue without sonic compromise and only require factory re-programming if upgrading the entire system to Mothership 3 with current-revision cards. Conversion tone remains unchanged, upholding Burl’s distinctive analogue depth and musicality.
