The Drawmer FC1 FET Compressor is a single-channel 500 Series FET compressor that combines fast, punchy gain reduction with modern processing features including parallel compression, CRUSH harmonic enhancement, BIG and AIR tonal shaping, programme-dependent release, stepped controls and stereo linking for precise, repeatable dynamic control in professional recording and mixing environments.

Classic FET Compression with Modern Flexibility

The Drawmer FC1 captures the speed, punch and energy associated with classic FET compressors while introducing an extensive collection of modern workflow and tone-shaping features. Designed for the popular 500 Series format, it delivers fast, responsive compression that enhances impact without sacrificing control.

FET compression reacts significantly faster than optical designs, making the FC1 ideal for drums, percussion, bass, electric guitars, vocals and mix buses where transient control, punch and presence remain essential. The result delivers energetic, characterful compression that helps sources cut through dense mixes.

Comprehensive Dynamic Control

The FC1 provides complete control over compression with dedicated Input Gain, Threshold, Ratio, Attack, Release and Output Gain controls. Engineers can fine-tune the compressor for subtle transient shaping, aggressive limiting or anything in between.

Drawmer equips the FC1 with high-quality 21-position stepped potentiometers throughout the module, allowing highly accurate repeatability and effortless recall of settings during recording, mixing and mastering sessions.

BIG and AIR Tone Shaping

Beyond compression, the FC1 includes two dedicated tonal enhancement modes.

BIG enriches the low frequencies by adding weight and warmth, giving drums, bass guitars and full mixes greater authority without overwhelming the low end.

AIR enhances the upper frequencies, introducing additional clarity, presence and sparkle that helps vocals, guitars, cymbals and percussion retain definition after compression.

These tonal enhancements complement the FET compression circuit, allowing engineers to shape both dynamics and frequency balance within a single processor.

Programme-Dependent Release

The PGM mode introduces a secondary, slower release characteristic that adapts according to the programme material exceeding the threshold.

Rather than relying solely on a fixed release time, the compressor adjusts dynamically to incoming audio. This approach reduces pumping during heavier compression while maintaining a smoother, more natural response across complex programme material.

Parallel Compression Built In

The integrated Mix control allows direct blending of compressed and uncompressed signals without requiring external routing.

Engineers can achieve the density and impact of heavy compression while preserving natural transients and dynamics. This parallel compression capability proves particularly effective on drums, bass, guitars, vocals and stereo buses.

CRUSH Harmonic Enhancement

Drawmer incorporates its popular CRUSH circuit into the FC1, allowing users to introduce musically pleasing harmonic content alongside compression.

The amount of harmonic enhancement increases with input level, adding warmth, edge and analogue character that helps instruments and vocals occupy a more defined position within a mix.

Professional Metering and Workflow

A large analogue VU meter displays gain reduction while also allowing users to monitor either input or output levels, providing clear visual feedback throughout recording and mixing.

The hard-wire bypass routes the input directly to the output without altering the signal, making instant A/B comparisons straightforward while maintaining complete signal integrity.

Stereo and Multi-Channel Linking

The FC1 supports module linking through Pin 6 of compatible 500 Series chassis.

Using the dedicated LINK button, adjacent FC1 modules share gain reduction information, allowing accurate stereo tracking and consistent compression across stereo sources, buses and multi-channel applications.

Designed and Hand Built in the UK

Every Drawmer FC1 receives hand assembly in the United Kingdom, reflecting Drawmer's long-established reputation for producing professional studio equipment that combines analogue performance with dependable engineering and modern functionality.
