Design and Construction

Both Selene and Poseidon adopt aerospace‑grade construction, featuring robust enclosures that resist resonances and maintain dimensional stability. The Selene cabinets mount to VESA‑compatible brackets (100 × 100 mm or 75 × 75 mm) using M4 hardware, allowing flexible placement in control rooms, edit suites or mobile rigs. Poseidon’s passive design eliminates internal amplification, relying on the EXCore unit to deliver clean power and precise crossover control.

Selene – Coaxial Reference Monitor

Selene incorporates a 16 cm coaxial driver built on Ex Machina’s third‑generation architecture, delivering ±1.5 dB frequency response from 80 Hz to 30 kHz and a phase tolerance of ±15°. The coaxial layout aligns the acoustic centre of the woofer and tweeter, ensuring consistent off‑axis imaging and tight localisation across the listening area. An external EXCore rack supplies clean amplification and precise DSP processing, while a passive LR2 crossover at 3 kHz preserves phase integrity. Selene mounts to VESA‑compatible brackets (100 × 100 mm or 75 × 75 mm) using M4 hardware, allowing flexible placement in control rooms, edit suites or mobile rigs. Over‑the‑air firmware and calibration updates arrive via Wi‑Fi, keeping the monitor aligned with the latest measurement models.

Poseidon – Passive Subwoofer Pair

Poseidon features a pair of 16 cm Epique MMAG drivers with 14.7 mm linear excursion, delivering deep, controlled bass from a compact enclosure. The passive design draws power directly from the EXCore unit, eliminating the need for separate amplifiers. A zero‑phase LR4 crossover at 150 Hz integrates the subwoofers seamlessly with Selene, preserving timing and imaging across the full system. Poseidon extends the overall response to a linear 50 Hz low‑frequency limit and adds headroom for demanding mixes, while maintaining the same aerospace‑grade construction standards as Selene. Firmware and calibration data propagate wirelessly from EXCore, ensuring the subwoofers benefit from the same performance upgrades as the monitors.

System Integration and Calibration

The EXCore rack handles all amplification, DSP processing and system‑wide calibration for both Selene and Poseidon. Calibration occurs at the system level, guaranteeing identical frequency response and phase behaviour across every channel. Over‑the‑air updates deliver new firmware and refined measurement models without manual intervention, providing continuous performance improvements. The combined system reaches a maximum SPL of 106 dB at 1 kHz for Selene and 98 dB at 50 Hz for Poseidon, with a unified zero‑phase crossover that maintains coherent transients throughout the audible spectrum.
