The Grace Design FELiX2 is a two-channel, studio-quality blending preamp designed for acoustic instruments and microphones, featuring stereo operation, advanced EQ controls, and professional-grade I/O connectivity, all housed in a compact, rugged floor unit.
Stereo Signal Chain Integration
FELiX2 supports true stereo operation with a new dual mono or stereo FX loop, enabling separate effects chains per channel or full stereo processing. It includes stereo outputs for amplifiers and stereo headphone monitoring, offering a detailed, spatial listening experience whether on stage or in a personal monitoring setup.
Phase Control for Mic/Pickup Blending
Channel 2 features a variable phase control, crucial for aligning the phase relationship between microphones and pickups. This ensures phase coherence and reduces comb filtering, resulting in a natural, full-bodied amplified sound.
Expanded EQ and Feedback Control
The updated EQ section provides greater tone-shaping control, including a high shelving EQ with selectable transition frequencies at 1kHz and 2kHz. The notch filter now uses a narrower Q setting for more precise attenuation of problematic feedback frequencies. Parametric midrange EQ covers 70Hz to 8kHz, complemented by musically voiced fixed low and high controls.
Improved Power and Noise Isolation
FELiX2 uses a Class II power supply with a 2-prong input, effectively eliminating ground loop issues when interfacing with non-isolated stage gear. This design enhances audio clarity and stage compatibility.
Stage-Friendly Design Enhancements
A new chassis design incorporates side rails and low-profile knobs to protect controls from accidental adjustment or damage caused by cables or stage movement. These features improve reliability during live performance.
Channel-Specific Boost Control
The boost circuit can now be assigned to only channel 2, allowing for independent gain switching when using the unit in A/B mode or blending configurations, increasing flexibility for dual-source instrument setups.
Comprehensive I/O Configuration
Inputs include a 48V phantom-powered XLR for microphones and two high-impedance instrument inputs. The dual transformer-isolated DI outputs can be set to output the full mix or individual channels, giving engineers full routing control. A dedicated amplifier output and an always-on tuner output support flexible stage setups. The FX loop uses dual TRS jacks for stereo or dual mono operation, while the headphone output enables isolated practice or monitoring.
Built in Colorado, USA, FELiX2 provides a compact, high-fidelity solution for amplifying acoustic instruments including guitar, bass, fiddle, cello, mandolin and more, delivering professional-grade performance for demanding live and studio applications.
