Advanced AD/DA Conversion Technology
The m701 audio interface features advanced AD/DA conversion that ensures unmatched audio quality, preserving the depth and musicality of recordings with high sonic fidelity and transparency.
The Grace Design m701 16x16 Digilink is a fully modular audio interface and AD/DA converter that features 8-channel AES I/O, 2-channel S/PDIF, word clock I/O, 16-channel ADC, 16-channel DAC, and a Digilink interface, designed to meet the needs of professional recording environments with maximum flexibility and uncompromising sound quality.
Grace Design has been refining AD/DA conversion technology since the early 2000s, integrating it into mic preamps and monitoring products. With digital audio converters reaching a highly developed state, the m701 stands apart by focusing on the entire system's design, ensuring that analogue input and output circuitry, power supply, and clock design enhance sonic transparency and fidelity. The result is an interface that delivers exceptional audio quality, preserving the musicality and depth of the source material.
The m701's modular design enables users to install individual 8-channel ADC and DAC modules in any of the eight available slots, offering numerous configurations to suit various studio requirements. The unit includes two 32-channel module slots compatible with Digilink, Dante, and the forthcoming USB2 format, as well as Ravenna/AES67/ST2110 and future connectivity standards. A third option module slot allows for additional expansions, such as a 24-channel AES3 I/O module, a word clock distribution module, or future enhancements in studio monitoring. The baseboard digital I/O provides connectivity through 8-channel AES, 8-channel ADAT, and 2-channel S/PDIF. Additionally, high-quality 4-channel microphone preamplifier modules from Grace Design can be installed in any of the available card slots, offering further flexibility.
GraceNet, the web-based control software, provides seamless operation and configuration of the m701 via any web browser, eliminating the need for software installation or updates. Both the front panel and the GraceNet interface feature comprehensive metering displays for all inputs and outputs, alongside complete configuration options. The integrated control functionality extends to the Grace Design m108 microphone preamplifiers, allowing for streamlined workflow management.
The m701 includes a built-in 32×8 mixer, enabling multiple low-latency cue mixes, which are essential for tracking sessions. Artists can control their individual mixes via GraceNet using a personal device such as a smartphone or tablet, ensuring a seamless and efficient recording process.
The m701 base unit provides up to 64 channels of analogue I/O and up to 202 channels of digital I/O, with eight 8-channel AD/DA option slots available for expansion. It supports 8-channel ADAT, 8-channel AES3, and 2-channel S/PDIF, making it compatible with various professional audio setups. Integrated control for Grace Design m108 mic preamps ensures enhanced functionality, while the built-in Ethernet and web browser control streamline remote operation. The system enables workflow load, edit, save, and recall functions, making it a powerful and adaptable tool for complex studio environments.
The m701 ships with a 32×32 channel Digilink interface card, two 8-channel ADC cards, and two 8-channel DAC cards, providing an extensive foundation for professional recording and production setups. This modular design ensures future-proof scalability, allowing users to expand and configure their system based on evolving studio needs.
