High-End Audio Quality
The Grace Design m701 features advanced AD/DA conversion technology with meticulously designed analogue stages, an optimised power supply, and precision clocking, ensuring exceptional audio clarity, depth, and transparency.
The Grace Design m701 is a 32x32 audio interface and AD/DA converter designed for professional recording studios, offering up to 64 channels of analogue I/O and 202 channels of digital I/O, with extensive configurability for various studio environments.
Grace Design has been developing AD/DA conversion technology within mic preamps and monitoring systems since the early 2000s. While modern digital converter chips have become highly refined, the surrounding analogue circuitry, power supply, and clocking still play a crucial role in overall audio performance. The m701 incorporates meticulously designed analogue input and output stages, an optimised power supply, and a precision clocking system to ensure exceptional clarity, depth, and transparency in audio conversion. This sophisticated engineering approach sets it apart as a high-end studio tool, delivering pristine sound quality.
The m701 offers an adaptable architecture, with eight available card slots that support various combinations of ADC and DAC modules. Each 8-channel ADC and DAC module can be installed as required, allowing users to configure their system based on specific studio demands. Digital I/O expansion includes two 32-channel module slots that support Digilink, Dante, USB2 (upcoming), Ravenna/AES67/ST2110, and other evolving formats. An additional expansion slot enables further digital I/O options, such as a 24-channel AES3 module, a Word Clock distribution module, or future enhancements for studio monitoring. The baseboard provides 8-channel AES, 8-channel ADAT, and 2-channel S/PDIF connectivity. Optional 4-channel high-quality microphone preamp modules can be installed in any of the eight slots, extending the system’s flexibility for hybrid studio setups.
Users can configure and operate the m701 through the front panel or the integrated GraceNet web-based control system. GraceNet requires no additional software installation and functions seamlessly with any web browser. The front panel and GraceNet home screens offer detailed metering for all inputs and outputs, along with full access to configuration settings. Additionally, GraceNet integrates control for Grace Design m108 microphone preamps, allowing centralised operation of multiple studio components.
A built-in 32×8 mixer provides multiple low-latency cue mixes for tracking sessions. Each artist can access individual monitor mixes using GraceNet on a personal device, such as a smartphone or tablet. This streamlined approach ensures seamless workflow integration, eliminating the need for external cue mixing systems.
The m701 supports up to 64 channels of analogue I/O and up to 202 channels of digital I/O, making it a scalable solution for diverse studio requirements. Eight 8-channel AD/DA slots allow precise system customisation. Integrated 8-channel ADAT, 8-channel AES3, and 2-channel S/PDIF connections provide extensive compatibility with professional audio gear. The built-in Ethernet-based GraceNet system enables remote control via a web browser. Additionally, a 32×8 low-latency mixer facilitates cue mix creation for tracking sessions. The system workflow includes load, edit, save, and recall functions for streamlined session management.
The standard configuration of the m701 includes a 32×32 channel Digilink interface card, four 8-channel ADC cards, and four 8-channel DAC cards. These components provide a robust foundation for professional studios, with the flexibility to expand or reconfigure as required.
The Grace Design m701 represents a sophisticated, future-proof solution for high-end recording and mixing environments, delivering unparalleled audio quality, extensive modularity, and seamless integration into modern studio workflows.
