Advanced AD/DA Conversion
The Grace Design m701 features state-of-the-art AD/DA converters ensuring transparent audio with ultra-low distortion and high dynamic range, delivering superior clarity and sound fidelity.
The Grace Design m701 Production Digilink is a 16x16 audio interface and AD/DA converter designed for professional recording studios, broadcast facilities, and post-production environments. It provides premium analogue-to-digital and digital-to-analogue conversion within a highly configurable platform, offering extensive input and output capabilities to accommodate a broad range of audio workflows.
Grace Design has been refining AD/DA conversion technology for decades, integrating high-quality digital audio processing into its mic preamps and monitoring products. While modern converter chips have reached a mature stage, the overall audio performance of an interface depends significantly on analogue circuitry, clocking precision, and power supply stability. The m701 incorporates meticulously engineered analogue input and output stages to deliver transparent, musical audio reproduction with exceptional clarity. Its architecture ensures ultra-low distortion, high dynamic range, and precise digital clocking for optimal signal integrity.
The modular design of the m701 allows users to tailor the system to specific studio requirements. It features eight available card slots, accommodating any combination of 8-channel ADC and DAC modules to create a flexible signal path. Digital I/O connectivity includes two 32-channel module slots supporting formats such as Digilink, Dante, Ravenna/AES67/ST2110, and future expansions like USB2. A third expansion slot enhances digital capabilities by integrating an additional 24-channel AES3 module, a Word Clock distribution module, or advanced studio monitoring functions. The base unit provides 8-channel AES, 8-channel ADAT, and 2-channel S/PDIF connectivity. Optional high-performance 4-channel microphone preamplifier modules can be installed in any of the eight slots, offering pristine preamp performance for demanding recording applications.
The m701 features a user-friendly control interface accessible from the front panel or through GraceNet, a web-based software solution. GraceNet operates seamlessly with any modern browser without requiring additional software installations or updates. Its interface provides comprehensive metering for all input and output channels, along with full access to configuration and system setup. The integration of GraceNet also enables direct control over Grace Design m108 microphone preamplifiers, streamlining workflow management within hybrid studio environments.
A built-in 32×8 digital mixer facilitates multiple low-latency cue mixes, making the m701 an ideal solution for tracking sessions. This powerful mixing engine ensures that artists receive latency-free monitor feeds while recording, significantly improving the tracking experience. Each cue mix is independently configurable and accessible via GraceNet, allowing musicians to adjust their monitoring preferences directly from a mobile device such as a smartphone or tablet.
Designed for long-term use in professional environments, the m701 supports system workflow loading, editing, saving, and recall functionality. This feature ensures that complex session setups can be efficiently stored and retrieved, minimising downtime in high-pressure recording or broadcast scenarios. With its modular expansion options, Grace Design has future-proofed the m701, allowing users to integrate emerging digital audio formats as they become industry standards.
This specific configuration of the m701 includes a 32×32 channel Digilink interface card, two 8-channel ADC cards, two 8-channel DAC cards, and two 4-channel mic pre/ADC cards. The combination of these modules provides high-quality analogue and digital conversion with the flexibility to expand as production needs evolve. With its exceptional build quality and uncompromising audio performance, the m701 sets a new benchmark for modular studio I/O solutions.
