JoeCo BandMate delivers professional-grade, multi-channel audio playback for live performances, offering 24 discrete channels of high-quality audio alongside MIDI data control for synchronising external devices such as effects pedals, lighting systems, or other MIDI-enabled equipment. Designed to eliminate the unpredictability of laptop-based systems, BandMate provides musicians with a reliable, hardware-based playback solution that operates seamlessly in demanding live environments.
Using the BandMate app, musicians can easily assemble setlists, which the BandMate automatically processes during performances. Each track loads sequentially as arranged, ensuring the performer concentrates entirely on the live show rather than technical management. Playback initiates through multiple methods: the front panel interface, an external footswitch, a MIDI command, or remotely via the BandMate Remote app. All audio files, MIDI data, and playlists reside on a USB memory stick, ensuring fast access and dependable storage.
BandMate supports 24 individual balanced outputs for direct connection to a stage box or mixing desk. Additionally, outputs 23 and 24 can deliver a stereo mix via an unbalanced TRS jack, ideal for smaller PA systems. The unit includes integrated protection circuits to prevent damage from accidental phantom power and features an earth lift switch to eliminate ground loop issues. Each output channel is monitored by a front panel LED, which indicates both the presence of an audio file and active signal transmission.
The front panel of the BandMate hosts a large LCD screen displaying essential information such as the playlist, current and upcoming track names, and playback duration. A multifunction rotary control allows users to select tracks, navigate playlists, and configure settings with precision.
BandMate Remote app extends control capabilities over WiFi, compatible with both iOS and Android devices. This app enables on-the-fly playlist creation, editing, loading, and track selection, including commands for start, pause, skip, and level adjustments. Although only one device can control BandMate at a time, additional devices can view the playback status, ensuring the entire band stays informed. The app adapts to both landscape and portrait orientations for versatile usage on various screen sizes.
The BandMate Loader app, available for MacOS and Windows, streamlines track preparation and playlist organisation. Track Loader simplifies the organisation of individual audio files, while Playlist Editor assembles these into structured setlists for performances. This software writes files to a USB stick in a precise format that ensures BandMate delivers accurate playback across all channels.
