Overview

The Mellotron Micro Module offers the sonic character and playback engine of the Mellotron Micro but removes the keyboard to create a streamlined sound module built for modern studio and live setups. It houses Sound Card 01 as standard, which provides the classic Mellotron core library used in the M4000D series. The included power supply, mains cable and 3.5 mm to five-pin type B MIDI adapter ensure immediate integration into existing rigs. The unit stores its sounds on Micro SD storage rather than CF expansion cards and therefore does not offer library expansion. The module reads one hundred high-resolution 24-bit uncompressed samples and recreates the organic performance feel of the original electro-mechanical instruments.

Performance and Control

The Mellotron Micro Module replaces the octave switch found on the Micro keyboard with a High/Low selector that adjusts playback pitch by one or two octaves and therefore allows expressive range control tailored to the user’s setup. It supports both MIDI mono aftertouch and polyphonic aftertouch, giving expressive response for advanced controllers that transmit individual note pressure information. The MIDI connections use 3.5 mm type B jacks instead of standard five-pin DIN sockets, suiting modern compact controllers and interfaces. The design deliberately omits MIDI Out and focuses on input performance, making the module behave as a dedicated Mellotron engine.
