Cardioid condenser microphone designed specifically for broadcast with K 04 capsule
The Neumann BCM104 is a cardioid condenser microphone designed specifically for broadcast.
The Neumann BCM104 uses the K 04 large diaphragm capsule originally designed for the Neumann Solution D microphone, which exhibits a flat response all the way up to 3kHz and a slight presence boost up to 2dB to deliver a natural presence. These characteristics are obtained without the use of resonance ensuring superior transient response and clarity.
The BCM104 is extremely quiet with a self-noise of 7dB(A) and a 131dB dynamic range capable of handing sources of up to 138dB SPL before clipping. It also boasts an amplifier with linear operation down to 20dB followed by an active filter, which kills any signal below. It also includes a 100Hz, 12/oct high-pass filter which is activated by a switch. A 14dB pad switch adjusts the sensitivity to accommodate louder sources.
The integrated pop shield has been carefully designed to prevent plosives and protect from unwanted moisture and other problems related to vocals affecting the diaphragm. It can be easily removed for cleaning.
