Exceptional Sound Accuracy
The KH 310 II delivers precise sound reproduction, ensuring critical monitoring applications achieve the highest level of accuracy and consistency for professional recording and mixing.
The Neumann KH 310 II is the next generation of one of the most respected three-way active studio monitors of recent years, building on the proven KH 310 A with increased amplifier power, advanced DSP and full integration with Neumann’s MA 1 Automatic Monitor Alignment system.
Designed for critical monitoring applications where accuracy, consistency and long-term listening comfort are essential, the KH 310 II retains the excellent 3-inch soft-dome midrange driver that became such an important part of the original monitor’s character, while substantially updating the technology around it.
Designed for recording, mixing, mastering, broadcast and post-production, the KH 310 II combines an 8.25-inch woofer, 3-inch midrange driver and 1-inch tweeter in a three-way active design. The result is a monitoring system intended to provide an exceptionally neutral and revealing reference without exaggerating detail or becoming tiring over extended sessions.
The original KH 310 A established itself in professional studios through its combination of excellent midrange definition, controlled low-frequency response and the ability to make reliable mix decisions across long working sessions. Rather than replacing that approach, Neumann has developed it further for the KH 310 II.
At the heart of the new monitor remains Neumann’s 3-inch soft-dome midrange driver. Its ability to reproduce the crucial midrange region with clarity and precision was one of the strengths of the original KH 310, and Neumann has retained the driver while re-engineering much of the surrounding electronics and system architecture.
The KH 310 II also introduces Neumann's ELFF (Extremely Linear Force Factor) woofer technology, designed to reduce distortion even when the bass driver is operating at higher excursion. This contributes to clean and controlled low-frequency reproduction while allowing the monitor to maintain its accuracy at higher monitoring levels.
Amplification has been substantially upgraded compared with the KH 310 A. The 8.25-inch woofer is now driven by 300W of Class D amplification, increased from 210W, while the midrange amplifier rises from 90W to 160W and the tweeter from 90W to 125W.
This additional power is not simply about making the KH 310 II louder. Increased amplifier headroom allows the drivers to operate with greater control during demanding transient material and helps the monitor retain its composure and accuracy as monitoring levels increase.
An advanced limiter system provides additional protection while allowing the loudspeaker to make effective use of the available amplifier power.
One of the most significant developments over the previous generation is the introduction of Neumann's latest DSP architecture.
The KH 310 II employs a full 32-bit DSP signal path for precise system alignment and processing and is compatible with the Neumann MA 1 Automatic Monitor Alignment system. MA 1 allows the monitoring system to be measured and calibrated for the acoustic characteristics of the listening environment, helping to compensate for room-related problems and achieve a more reliable monitoring reference at the listening position.
This makes the KH 310 II particularly attractive for modern production rooms where excellent monitoring is required but extensive acoustic treatment or perfectly symmetrical room dimensions may not always be possible.
Improved unit-to-unit consistency is another important part of the KH 310 II design. Closely matched loudspeakers contribute to accurate stereo imaging, while predictable performance between individual monitors becomes particularly valuable when constructing larger multichannel and immersive monitoring systems.
The KH 310 II shares its driver technology, amplification and DSP platform with the larger KH 350, helping maintain consistent voicing when different Neumann KH models are combined within the same installation.
This makes the KH 310 II equally relevant as a high-quality stereo monitoring solution or as part of a larger surround or Dolby Atmos system.
For integration into both traditional and modern studio environments, the KH 310 II provides analogue connectivity alongside digital AES3id via BNC.
The combination of digital connectivity, onboard DSP and MA 1 compatibility allows the KH 310 II to form part of a fully calibrated Neumann monitoring system while remaining straightforward to incorporate into existing professional analogue monitoring setups.
The KH 310 II is very much an evolution of the KH 310 rather than a change in direction. Neumann has retained the qualities that made the original such a dependable studio monitor, particularly its excellent midrange reproduction and suitability for extended critical listening while introducing considerably more powerful amplification, lower-distortion bass technology and the DSP facilities expected from a contemporary professional monitoring system.
For producers, engineers and studios already familiar with the KH 310, the KH 310 II provides a logical route into Neumann's current DSP and MA 1 ecosystem. For new monitoring installations, it offers a compact three-way solution capable of working across music production, recording, mastering, post-production, broadcast and immersive audio.
